COOLSCULPTING MYTHS CALGARY

Top CoolSculpting Myths - Busted

If you are thinking about going ahead with your CoolSculpting journey, here are the top 12 questions you will want answers to. >>

If you have unwanted bulges of fat across different parts of your body, and you want to get rid of them effectively, then CoolSculpting could be the ideal solution for you. There are many standout reasons why CoolSculpting has become one of the leading fat removal treatments in the cosmetics industry. Over 11 million patients worldwide have had the treatment thanks to its ability to reduce fat by up to 27% in the treated area in just 1 session. The procedure is also highly versatile, having been approved to treat 13 different areas of the body.

If you are thinking about going ahead with your CoolSculpting journey, here are the top 12 questions you will want answers to:

  1. Can I shed weight with CoolSculpting?

Although the reduction seen with CoolSculpting may look like a person has lost weight, it is not a weight loss treatment.  CoolSculpting is a fat reduction treatment, not a weight loss treatment.  When losing weight, fat cells shrink. However, the number of fat cells remains the same.  With Coolsculpting, 20%- 27% of the fat cells per treatment are gone for good. If a person is over their Ideal weight, it is recommended that they lose weight through diet and exercise; however, it can help reduce one or two sizes in clothing.

  1. Can I see results instantly?

Results are not seen instantly.  Some results can be seen within a few weeks. However full results are usually seen around 3 to 4 months post-treatment but could take up to 6 months. For example, suppose a person wants to contour their body for a special event or vacation. In that case, we strongly encourage people to get treatment at least 3- 4 months before the event to appreciate their total reduction.

  1. Is CoolSculpting for anyone?

A large portion of the population would be considered a good candidate for treatment; however, there are a few contraindications to treatment, and some people would not be regarded as a good candidate for treatment. Therefore, it’s always best to have a consultation where we assess, review your health history, and discuss your candidacy.  CoolSculpting is recommended for people within 30 lbs. of their ideal body weight who have stubborn bulges that don’t reduce with diet and exercise.

  1. Will I gain weight after treatment?

CoolSculpting helps reduce stubborn bulges but does not prevent a person from gaining weight. Therefore, to maintain long-lasting results, it is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle through diet and exercise.

  1. Can you treat anywhere on the body?

CoolSculpting can treat many areas of the body, but not all. The area being treated must have a visible bulge. CoolSculpting can treat the following areas:

  1. Abdomen
  2. Flanks
  3. Inner thighs
  4. Outer thighs
  5. Banana roll
  6. Submental area (Chin)
  7. Male chest
  8. Upper Arms
  9. Upper back
  10. Lower back
  11. Knees
  1. Will CoolSculpting help to tighten my skin?

CoolSculpting does reduce fat but does not tighten skin.  We tell most clients that the skin will look the same as if the client has lost weight in the area.  If a person has good skin quality before treatment, their skin will shrink with them and hug their new contours.  If there is skin laxity before treatment, the skin may appear more lax after treatment with the reduction in fat cells.  Often, clients are delightfully surprised by the appearance of their skin after CoolSculpting, even if there was laxity before treatment.

  1. Is CoolSculpting a painful procedure?

CoolSculpting is not a painful procedure. There can be a discomfort within the first 5-10 minutes of the treatment until the area becomes numb. Some discomfort can also be felt during the 2-minute massage immediately after removing the applicator.  Most people find the 2-minute massage the most uncomfortable part of the treatment. This is a tolerable and crucial step to help increase the efficacy of the treatment by 68%.  Most people watch tv, listen to music, bring their work with them, and some even fall asleep during the procedure.

  1. I heard the results are only temporary, is that true?

Results with CoolSculpting are permanent, just like the results of liposuction.  CoolSculpting is a permanent removal of fat cells from the body.  Once a fat cell is destroyed and removed from the body, there is no replacement cell. This means you will forever have fewer cells in the treated area. Therefore, it is important to maintain your weight for long-lasting visible results. CoolSculpting will not prevent you from increasing the size of the remaining fat cells in the area treated if you gain weight.

  1. Can I do anything to enhance my Coolsculpting results?

Yes!  Alastin TransFORM Body Treatment increases body fat reduction by up to 50%! With TriHEx Technology TransFORM Body encourages and accelerates the clearance of broken-down fat cells and enhances visible results. In addition, when used daily, TransForm can support the skin’s natural ability to produce new healthy collagen and Elastin, which can help with the appearance of Skin texture, laxity, and crepiness.

  1. Do I needs time to recover after treatment?

CoolSculpting does not require downtime. Some mild to moderate temporary symptoms may occur after CoolSculpting, such as bruising, swelling, numbness and tingling.  These symptoms typically resolve in the first week or two but may last longer.  Vigorous activity may want to be avoided if it causes discomfort. Most people can return to work immediately after CoolSculpting without taking time off to “recover.”

  1. Is Cool sculpting expensive?

It is an investment; CoolSculpting prices vary based on each individual and their assessment for each area of interest; all clinics charge a standard amount per applicator. Clinics can have promotions and discounts at different times to help bring the cost lower.  We also offer Paybright for financing; find out if you qualify! Pay Bright

  1. What is the truth about Paradoxical adipose hyperplasia?

Paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (or PAH) is a process in which fatty tissue grows instead of shrinks in response to cryolipolysis.  Unfortunately, it can happen at any clinic to anyone without explanation. Fortunately, this complication is infrequent, occurring only in .033%  of treatments. In the rare instances when PAH occurs, it can be corrected with surgical liposuction.
