When I say filler I am talking about dermal fillers. Fillers are used cosmetically to create more attractive facial contours, to replace lost facial volume that occurs naturally as we age, or to enhance the shape of any area of the face that might benefit.
The most popular dermal fillers on the market are made from hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance in the skin that has an incredible capacity to attract and hold vast amounts of moisture. Moisture means hydration, so Hyaluronic Acid (HA) in the skin is GOOD!
The Hyaluronic Acid that is used in dermal fillers is not the same as the natural HA that occurs in your skin. Cosmetic HA fillers are formulated into much longer chains and are often cross-linked. Some are very fluid, and others are very viscous. If natural HA was used as a dermal filler it would only last 7 to 14 days! Fortunately, diverse formulations of HA fillers have been designed to be used for specific purposes and with much greater longevity than naturally occurring HA. Depending on the consistency of the filler and the degree of movement in the area of the face it is placed, cosmetic HA fillers can last anywhere from 3 to 24 months, and sometimes longer. The next paragraph explains why.
Strength = Longevity
Areas of the face with a high degree of movement require a filler with a lighter consistency so the filler can move naturally with the skin. Unfortunately, these more fluid fillers tend to lack strength, so they don’t last very long in areas with a lot of movement.
Stretch = A Natural Look
Areas of the face that need more lift require a thicker filler which is stronger. The density of these volumizing fillers makes them last longer, but they lack the ability to stretch as the face moves naturally.
Stretch + Strength = Dynamic RHA
Teosyal’s new RHA filler is the first dynamic filler to hit the market! Four formulations of varying viscosities are designed to fully move with the everchanging dynamics of the face. Not only are they able to stretch with the movements of the injected area, but also resist breaking down due to repetitive movement. The result is a longer-lasting filler that is more natural in appearance. Filler in the lips and other areas of high movement will last up to a year. Filler in the cheeks will move more naturally.
RHA is one of a wide range of Hyaluronic Acid fillers available at Skinpossible and a welcome addition to our cosmetic injection menu. We also offer a full range of Juvederm fillers, Kiss, a filler designed specifically for lip enhancements and numerous other formulations. Ask your injector if RHA is right for you!
