CHEMICAL PEELS…They’ve come a long way baby!

Chemical peels have been around for a long time, and until recently were considered rather “old school.” They were known to be uncomfortable with results, recovery, and downtime varying greatly. But that was then and this is now! Skinpossible is proud to offer the AlumierMD line of advanced chemical peels. Approved by Health Canada, these peels are meticulously formulated to address a variety of skin conditions safely and with predictable downtime.

Treatable conditions with Chemical Peels

The chemical Peel is indicated for a variety of skin types and conditions including:

What makes our Peels unique?

AlumierMD has mastered the science of chemical peels with quality ingredients to produce beautiful results. One size does not fit all! The peels are customizable based on your skincare needs. The line includes neutralizable peels, self-neutralizing peels, and Jessner cocktails of different acids that can be tailored to different intensities. Each peel includes take-home skincare to nourish your skin for 5-7 days post-treatment. The PH balance of the acids is at an optimal level for penetration and comfort, and the quality of the acids used by AlumierMD produces heightened results that can not be denied.

You can't argue with the results!

Chemical peels preserve the architecture of the skin while simultaneously brightening and stimulating the release of growth factors. Unlike mechanical exfoliation such as microdermabrasion or home-use scrubs, healthy cells survive and only damaged cells are removed from the skin. The dead skin exfoliates to reveal brighter, plumper, more even-toned skin. Luminosity is restored, the texture is refined and collagen formation is promoted. We recommend a series of three to six peels, performed every 2 to 4 weeks to produce dramatic improvement, followed by a single peel every 3-4 months for maintenance.

Chemical Peels FAQs

  • What is a chemical peel? +

A chemical peel is a treatment used to improve skin texture and tone. An acid is applied to the skin to lower the PH, which loosens the connections between dead skin cells, including exfoliation and stimulating new cell growth. This process causes superficial  layers of dead skin to peel off, revealing a smoother and more radiant complexion.
  • Why Alumier Chemical Peels? +

AlumierMD Peel Treatments are the next generation of clinical exfoliation. AlumierMD understands that everyone wants clear, beautiful, skin. Using scientifically-based, high performing ingredients, AlumierMD has designed a cosmetically elegant, clean chemical free range of skin care products to suit all skin profiles with exceptional results. All AlumierMD products are free of parabens, sulfates and dyes.
  • How many peels will I need? +

This will depend on your skin type, tone and texture. A single peel makes for a nice skin prep for an event, but for best results, a course of 4-6 peels is recommended. Your aesthetican will advise you at consultation what approach is best for you.
  • Can every skin type have an Alumier™ MD peel? +

Alumier™ MD peels aims to treat various imbalances in every skin tone, type and texture. After a thorough consultation, your aesthetician will choose your peel according to its ingredients and apply it in layers depending your skin’s immediate responses. The peel will be neutralized at exactly the right time to avoid over-exfoliation. Clients with particular skin disorders will be advised if an Alumier™ MD peel is beneficial for them, or if a different approach, like laser treatments or homecare, would be more suitable.
  • Do I need to prepare my skin in any way for the peel? +

We recommend you stop using any products that contain active ingredients such as retinoids (eg Retin-A, Tazorac, retinol), high percentages of vitamin C, or any AHAs or BHAs at least 7 days prior to treatment. Do not have skin treatments of any kind for at least 7 days prior to treatment.
  • What does an Alumier™ MD Peel feel like? +

Upon application of the peel, clients report a feeling of warmth and tingling that peaks and then dissipates within a couple minutes. The entire treatment is easily tolerable and precisely timed. Once the peel is neutralized, a soothing medicated moisturizer is applied to calm and rebalance the skin. Lastly, an SPF 30 is applied to protect your skin from UV damage.
  • What can I expect right after a chemical peel? +

The skin is initially tender and more sun-sensitive as the epidermis renews itself. After the peeling takes its course (usually 3-5 days after treatment), fresh new skin emerges and ingredients in home care products start to work more effectively.
  • If peeling doesn’t take place, does it mean the peel wasn’t effective? +

Peeling of the dead skin layers can be macroscopic, meaning you can see the peeling, or microscopic, meaning peeling is occurring on a cellular level, but the skin is not visually flaking. Therefore, you can have an effective chemical peel without actually seeing your skin peeling.
  • Can I wear make-up and use my regular creams afterward? +

To ensure gentle cleansing, hydration and sun protection, Skinpossible provides a free kit of Alumier™ MD post-care cleanser, moisturizer and SPF to use in the days immediately following the peel. Light day makeup can be worn if necessary. No products containing retinoids (eg Retin-A, Tazora, retinol) should be used for at least 7 days after the peel. Do not have skin treatments of any kind for at least 7 days after the peel.
